Lane Ravey, 39, a White male from Summerfield, Florida, was found shot and pronounced dead at the scene on the morning of July 30, 2025, along the 17800 block of SE 21st Court. Deputies responded around 7:15 a.m.; Marion County Fire Rescue confirmed his death while Major Crimes detectives and the sheriff’s forensic unit processed a cordoned-off dirt-road stretch lined with homes.

Investigators canvassed the area and worked through the week to reconstruct how the encounter unfolded and who fired the shots. Officials said they were actively gathering details and seeking suspect information but did not release a description of any shooter. As of the first week of August 2025, no arrests had been announced and no one had been publicly named in connection with the killing.
