Jason Todd Johnson, 45, was last seen the late afternoon of Friday, September 14, 2012, at his business, Scottsdale Auto Collision Center, in Tempe, Arizona. He failed to attend weekend plans and did not report to work; three days later his family reported him missing. His black Toyota Camry remained parked at the shop and investigators found no phone or financial activity after his disappearance.

Attention turned to business partner Chad Justin Norris after employees reported a heated argument between the two on the day Johnson vanished. When detectives watched Chad and his wife Tamara leave their home with a box trailer and later abandon it in Phoenix, a warrant was obtained. Inside the trailer officers found blood, spent bullet casings, and a wallet containing Jason Johnson’s driver’s license. Those items led investigators to conclude Johnson had been shot and killed at the business and his body disposed of.

Chad Norris was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on September 19, 2012; Tamara Norris was charged with hindering the prosecution. The case proceeded as a homicide, but Jason Johnson’s body has never been recovered.
