On the morning of August 7, 2025, 18-year-old Jameria Studivent of Blackshear was fatally shot while a passenger in a car on the 400 block of Miller Road in Douglas, Georgia. The vehicle, carrying Studivent and two others, was struck at about 9:10 a.m.; the driver took her to Coffee Regional Medical Center, where she later died. An autopsy was scheduled with the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Macon to determine cause and manner of death.
Investigators identified 18-year-old Prince PJ Thomas of Douglas as a suspect. The GBI’s preliminary findings say Thomas was in his yard, saw the car and opened fire, and that he was acquainted with one of the other occupants of the vehicle; authorities found no indication of a provocation. Thomas turned himself in and was arrested and booked into the Coffee County Jail on charges that include felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The case remains an active investigation and will be referred to the Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office when complete.
If anyone witnessed the shooting or has information about the events on Miller Road that morning, please share what is known.
