I have been following this case as well. I am also sickened to hear that the perpetrator bonded out of jail.

A late-summer domestic dispute in Thomasville, Georgia, ended with the death of 46-year-old Franklin Hiram Scudder on August 6, 2025. Deputies responded to a call at a Duren Drive residence after Franklin’s son, 24-year-old Tristin Hiram Scudder, called 911 at about 10:30 a.m. to report that he had shot his father. Franklin was found unresponsive and later taken for autopsy.

Tristin was arrested on scene and taken into custody by the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office. He told deputies that his father came to the home and started a disturbance and that, during an altercation, Franklin attempted to take his firearm, at which point Tristin shot him in the back. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been asked to assist. Tristin was arraigned the next morning; a judge denied bond and he remained in Thomas County Jail facing charges including murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Franklin, known as Tripper to friends and family, was born February 6, 1979, in Peoria, Illinois, and was a Navy veteran. He is survived by his two children, his fiancée, and extended family. Does anyone in the Thomasville area have information about the events leading up to the August 6 incident?
