On the evening of August 6, 2025, 19-year-old Tyeler Jackson was shot on Mayfern Trace in a Fairburn subdivision and later died at a local hospital shortly before 7 p.m. Responders found Jackson with a gunshot wound to his abdomen; he was conscious at times and reportedly asked for help. Investigators recovered several items at the scene, including an iPhone, a knife, a green bag, and multiple bullet rounds.
Police say the shooting grew out of a planned exchange: an alleged trade of a gun for marijuana. Arrest warrants state 18-year-old K’Mari Sloan arranged the meeting and, believing Jackson had shorted him, returned with 20-year-old Christopher Carter. Warrants and statements allege Carter struck Jackson with a gun and the weapon discharged, striking Jackson in the back. Sloan turned himself in and provided a statement that implicated both men; Carter, identified by Sloan as Peanut, was interviewed and — with a mental health coordinator present — reportedly admitted to striking Jackson and pointing the gun when it fired.
Who in the Fairburn community might have known about the planned meeting or seen the parties that evening?
