Delvonte Ronterraius McNealy, 34, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Valdosta, Georgia, on July 29, 2025. McNealy, a Black man with ties to Quincy, Florida, was attending a family gathering on Frederick Place when a vehicle drove by and occupants opened fire. He was standing near the road and was struck multiple times in the torso; first responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Valdosta police processed the scene, collected evidence and witness statements, and concluded McNealy was not the intended target. Within days investigators identified and arrested 19-year-old Michael Eugene Carter at his home; he was charged with murder, seven counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Further investigation produced two more arrests: Shayon Edwards and Devonatada Edwards, each charged with murder. During Shayon Edwards’s arrest officers found over a pound of marijuana, cocaine, pills, four firearms and more than $1,100 in cash, leading to additional drug and weapons charges.
