Bidan Mburu, 22, was killed by a stray bullet on the evening of September 16, 2025, in Greenwood, Indiana. He was returning from work to his apartment at the Westminster Apartments when, at about 10:15 p.m. in the 800 block of Dover Drive, he was struck in the head. Bystanders took him to IU Health Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The shooting began as a domestic dispute inside an apartment between 21-year-old Isiah Q. Peak Jr. of Indianapolis and a woman. After the woman’s brother intervened the argument moved outside and Peak allegedly brandished a firearm. He is accused of firing at the brother; the shot missed and instead struck Mburu, who a witness said was roughly 15 feet behind the intended target while walking toward the building.

Investigators say Peak fled but was located after his cellphone was tracked to a hotel in Indianapolis. Greenwood SWAT took him into custody and he is being held at the Johnson County Jail without bail; the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office has charged him with murder and attempted murder.
