Robert Bob Boyajian, 74, vanished from his Bass Lake, California home overnight on July 12, 2025. Deputies called for a welfare check two days later found his truck, briefcase, and the Apple Watch he wore inside the house, but his phone, wallet, and bedding were missing from an otherwise undisturbed residence. A funeral notice later confirmed his death as the investigation shifted from a missing-person case to a homicide.
Detectives found the home surveillance DVR missing and focused on 21-year-old Audrik Matevosian of Clovis, an IT worker who had serviced Boyajian’s cameras. Bank records showed a $1,000 withdrawal from Boyajian’s account the night after the killing and ATM images placed Matevosian at the machine. Investigators recovered Boyajian’s body in a Mojave Desert cave after following Matevosian’s directions; they also found the phone near Fresno’s Woodward Park, the wallet in Matevosian’s gym locker, and the shovel used in the burial. Two handguns were seized from Matevosian’s room, one reported stolen and one registered to Boyajian.
Matevosian was arrested and booked without bail on charges including first-degree murder with special-circumstance allegations, grand theft, and a firearm enhancement; he pleaded not guilty at an initial appearance. The case includes allegations of prior planning, including online purchase of a body bag and rental of a car at least a week before the killing. Anyone who knew Boyajian or saw him around Bass Lake in early July 2025 is asked to share information.
