Daphne Meyers, 38, was shot dead in her Warrenton, Georgia home in the early hours of July 19, 2025. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call about a shooting at a residence in the 200 block of Phelps Drive at about 3:30 a.m.; officers found Meyers deceased from a gunshot wound. An autopsy was scheduled at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office to formally determine cause of death.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, working at the request of the Warrenton Police Department, identified the killing as stemming from a domestic dispute. Authorities named 57-year-old Charles Jeffery of Norwood, Georgia, as the suspect and charged him with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Jeffery was booked into the McDuffie County Jail. The GBI says its investigation remains active; once finished the file will go to the Toombs Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
