Francisco Montez was 19 and from Corcoran when he was fatally shot shortly after midnight on July 10, 2025. Corcoran police responded to reports of gunfire and a vehicle collision near Dairy and Stanley avenues; surveillance footage from a nearby automotive business captured a car racing across the street, crashing into a parked SUV and coming to rest against a wall. The food-truck operator who had been outside was struck by that vehicle and treated at a hospital. Joshua Morton, 30, was found inside the crashed car with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. Montez was taken to a Tulare hospital and died of his injuries; police said they believed both shootings were part of the same incident but did not explain where Montez was shot or how he reached the Tulare hospital. Investigators were seeking witnesses or anyone with information about what led to the violence.
