On the evening of July 8, 2025, 19-year-old Tristan Tomak Trevino went to the Haven Apartments on Ruta Drive in Hobart, Indiana, for a prearranged marijuana sale that turned deadly. Hobart Police responded about 5:07 p.m. after callers reported a disturbance with a firearm and shots fired. Officers found Trevino slumped over an apartment landing railing; he was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. An 18-year-old male was also found with a gunshot wound to the head and was alive at the scene.
Investigators determined the buyer and two companions had planned to use counterfeit money and rob Trevino. All parties were armed. During a struggle, Trevino shot the 18-year-old buyer and Jordan Carl Meekins then shot Trevino from behind. Charges were filed afterward: Meekins was charged with murder and murder in the perpetration of a robbery on July 17 and was taken into custody on August 13; Marquis Bonaparte was charged on September 5 with murder, murder in the perpetration of a robbery, and robbery. The investigation is ongoing.
Did anyone in the Hobart area see or hear anything that evening that could help clarify what happened?
