In the predawn hours of August 3, 2025, 28-year-old Jeremiah R. Adtutubofah was found shot to death in Harvey, Illinois. His killing occurred hours after a house party on Des Plaines Street where two gunmen opened fire, wounding seven people including a four-year-old boy. A licensed concealed-carry holder returned fire at that scene and fatally shot one suspected attacker; another suspected attacker was wounded and taken into custody.

Police said the two incidents are connected and described them as conflicts between groups with a history of hostility, suggesting Jeremiah’s death bore the markings of a planned retaliatory act rather than an isolated shooting. Detectives were working two linked crime scenes, pursuing leads, collecting footage and shell casings, and appealing for witnesses. No charges had been announced in Jeremiah R. Adtutubofah’s killing.
