In the early hours of July 5, 2025, an altercation between two groups of teenagers near Columbia and Harrison Streets in downtown Fort Wayne escalated into gunfire. Sixteen-year-old Si’Montre Anthony R’Chey Molargik, a Black male, was found unresponsive and taken to a local hospital, where he died of a gunshot wound; the Allen County Coroner ruled the manner of death a homicide. The shooting left three other teenagers wounded; they were treated and released.
The Fort Wayne Police Homicide Unit identified suspects within a day, executed multiple search and arrest warrants and arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile on preliminary charges including murder, attempted murder, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Eighteen-year-old Ni’Shawn Jackson was later arrested on preliminary charges of attempted murder and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon; multiple firearms were recovered during a separate search warrant. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty and the investigation remains active.
Did anyone in the Fort Wayne area witness the disturbance that night or have information about the shooting?
