Shortly after 5:35 a.m. on June 23, 2025, police responded to a home in the 8200 block of Triplefin Way in Elk Grove where they found 51-year-old Russell Joseph Battaglia and his 19-year-old son Christian Battaglia dead from gunshot wounds. Investigators say an argument among family members escalated into gunfire.
Authorities identified the suspect as Russell’s 18-year-old son, Noah Spencer Battaglia, who fled the scene and was located about two hours later at a south Sacramento residence and taken into custody on suspicion of homicide; booking records list murder charges. City officials and local outlets described the incident as a double homicide tied to a domestic dispute, and detectives were continuing to process evidence and interview witnesses.
Memorial pages and a family GoFundMe publicly named the victims and described the family’s sudden loss. If anyone witnessed the early-morning events on Triplefin Way or has information about the case, please come forward.
