Damian Poole, 36, was found dead inside his Stearns, Kentucky, camper after his mother reported him missing on September 9, 2025, when he failed to arrive for a planned family visit. Deputies executing a search warrant on September 11 discovered his body in a back room covered with blankets; an autopsy later determined he died of two gunshot wounds to the head. His ankles were bound with a nylon rope and investigators believed the body had been moved from the place of killing. Poole’s two dogs were also found shot to death in the camper.
Police focused on Poole’s partner, 39-year-old Daniel Kearney, who was at the residence when officers arrived. Neighbors described the relationship as tumultuous, with frequent loud arguments and previous reports of gunshots; they said Kearney gave varying accounts of Poole’s whereabouts. Investigators reported bullet holes, pools of blood, an AR-style rifle and several other firearms at the scene, and a handwritten checklist outlining steps to clean the residence, destroy evidence, and dispose of Poole’s body. Kearney was arrested on September 12 and charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and second-degree cruelty to animals, held on $1 million bond.
Does anyone have additional observations about the timeline of events around September 9–12 or information about the couple’s time in Stearns?
