Malcolm D. Woodhouse-Alexander, 21, was shot to death in the early hours of July 13, 2025, in the parking lot of 3rd Chute II Bar & Grill on Fosterburg Road, just outside Alton. Deputies and Alton police responded to calls around 1:05 a.m.; he showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the violence grew out of a dispute that had started inside the bar earlier that night.
Detectives say Woodhouse-Alexander and 24-year-old Joseph A. Torres II of Godfrey knew each other and argued repeatedly; Torres allegedly fired a warning shot around 12:15 a.m., left, then returned near 1 a.m. After both men were escorted out, the confrontation moved to the parking lot and Torres opened fire, striking Woodhouse-Alexander multiple times—investigators count four shots. Torres did not flee, admitted to the shooting during questioning, and was taken into custody. Prosecutors charged Torres on July 14, 2025, with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm; an indictment followed. No additional suspects have been publicly sought.
Anyone who knew Malcolm, was at 3rd Chute II that night, or has information about the events leading up to the shooting is asked to come forward.
