Edwin Preeon Haddix, 42, was shot in the late hours of Sunday, August 10, 2025, on the 1700 block of Bryan Station Road in Lexington. Officers found him with multiple gunshot wounds just before midnight; he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead on August 11, 2025. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office ruled his death a homicide. An autopsy showed four gunshot wounds to his back, and six shell casings at the scene were later matched to a firearm belonging to 30-year-old Keaira Pennie.
Police say two witnesses identified Pennie as the shooter and that the shooting happened in a driveway as Haddix was walking into a home. Investigators described a dispute and an intimate relationship as part of the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Pennie was arrested and charged with murder; she pleaded not guilty and bond was set at $150,000, with a judge finding probable cause to forward the case to a grand jury.
Haddix was born March 28, 1983, graduated from Lexington Catholic High School, attended Transylvania University, and worked as a commercial truck driver for United Parcel Services. He is remembered by family as a loving husband, father, and son. Did anyone in Lexington see or hear anything that night that could help clarify what happened?
