On the afternoon of July 15, 2025, officers responding to a welfare check at a residence in the 1800 block of Darien Drive in Lexington found 60-year-old Dean Dalrymple inside the home, shot multiple times. The Fayette County Coroner pronounced Dalrymple dead at the scene and the Lexington Police Department quickly classified the case as a homicide.
Detectives canvassed the neighborhood, interviewed residents and sought surveillance footage. Authorities publicly asked anyone with information to contact detectives or submit an anonymous tip to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers. Police have not released a suspect description, and no arrests have been announced. Dalrymple had a pending court date on nonviolent drug-possession charges, but investigators say no link to his killing has been established.
Did anyone in the Darien Drive area see or hear anything on the afternoon of July 15 that might help investigators?
