Ontario Spivey, a 35-year-old man from Ruston, Louisiana, was fatally shot at a convenience store at 2500 West Alabama Avenue on September 4, 2025. Ruston Police used the store’s surveillance video to identify a suspect and his vehicle, and a Grambling police officer helped confirm the individual as Virgil Mack Jr., 31, of Dubach.
When the suspect vehicle was later spotted westbound on Interstate 20, a Louisiana State Trooper tried to stop it; the vehicle fled and a multi-state pursuit followed into Texas, ending when the vehicle crashed in Marshall, Texas. Three people were taken into custody at the scene. Virgil Mack Jr. was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with Spivey’s death. Two others were also charged: Kobe Ty’rell Mack, 20, of Dubach, was charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder plus a misdemeanor probation violation and a bench warrant for failure to appear; and Kourtney Douglass, 37, of Ruston, was held in Texas on a charge of felony evading arrest or detention by vehicle.
Virgil Mack Jr. and Kobe Ty’rell Mack were later booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center following extradition proceedings. What can anyone who was at the convenience store that night or who recognizes these names or the vehicle add to the timeline?
