Robert Louis Dark Jr., 39, was fatally shot at his Bowling Green, Kentucky, car dealership, Martin Auto Mart at 1001 U.S. 31-W Bypass, on June 25, 2025. Police responded to a call about an assault with a firearm at about 12:21 p.m. and found Dark slumped over in his office chair. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene; the medical examiner’s preliminary findings reported multiple gunshot wounds, primarily to the upper body.
Investigators linked the case to a business associate. Authorities arrested 42-year-old Darris Allen of Bowling Green and charged him with murder by complicity, with the complaint alleging Allen solicited, commanded, or conspired to cause Dark’s death. Surveillance footage reportedly captured a silver 2014 Cadillac arriving before the shooting and leaving shortly after, and that vehicle was connected to the inquiry.
Dark was a father, son, and brother and owned local businesses. His family and the community were left mourning and concerned about safety. If anyone has information about the events at Martin Auto Mart or the silver Cadillac, please come forward.
