Carlos Gonzales, 60, was shot and killed in the driveway of his Hesperia home on the evening of May 20, 2025. Deputies were called just before 6:45 p.m. to the 18800 block of Madrone Street after reports of a man with a gun; first responders found Gonzales gravely wounded and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Neighbors heard an initial volley of shots, a pause, then more gunfire as investigators sealed off the block.

A woman in her late fifties from Victorville was also shot, rushed to a hospital and later died, making this a double homicide. Within a day investigators identified a suspect and arrested 27-year-old Christian Armstrong, a Hesperia resident, in Apple Valley; authorities tied him to the Madrone Street shooting but did not release a motive. Homicide detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division assumed the case and asked anyone with information to contact the Homicide Detail.

Did anyone in the neighborhood see or hear anything the evening of May 20 that could help investigators?
