Tammy Corrine Terrell was 17 when her body was found on the evening of October 5, 1980, in a desolate area near what is now the Arroyo Grande wash in Henderson, Nevada. The autopsy reported blunt force trauma to the head, multiple wounds to the face, several stab wounds in the back, a knocked-out lower tooth, and evidence of a sexual assault.
For more than four decades she was known only as Arroyo Grande Jane Doe. Investigators exhumed her remains multiple times and produced facial reconstructions before a 2021 investigative genetic genealogy match to two surviving sisters identified her as Tammy Terrell. She was last seen on September 28, 1980, after being dropped off at the Roswell State Fair and later observed at a local restaurant with an unidentified man and woman; she may have been traveling with them toward California.
Authorities treat this as an active homicide investigation. Can anyone who remembers Tammy, the Roswell State Fair that week, or the unidentified man and woman she was seen with come forward with information?
