On the evening of July 15, 2025, gunfire struck Vincent Joseph, 56, while he sat in his vehicle on Lasseigne Road in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Severely wounded, Joseph drove away but lost control and crashed into a tree at the intersection of LA Highway 308 and LA Highway 3185. He was taken to a local hospital and later died of his injuries.

Detectives with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office identified 25-year-old Kayvon Woodside of Gray as a person of interest and obtained a warrant charging him with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Woodside was located in neighboring Terrebonne Parish and taken into custody on July 17, 2025, then booked and transferred to face the charges; bail was set at $600,000. Multiple agencies assisted in the investigation and arrest. The motive has not been released as the investigation continues.
