A Fayette, Mississippi community bicentennial celebration on Main Street ended in tragedy when gunfire erupted just before 11:00 p.m. on May 31, 2025. Twenty-two-year-old Rayshaude Hudson was fatally shot during the Fayette Fest; the county coroner identified him as the deceased. At least five other people were wounded in the incident.
Multiple agencies responded, including the Fayette Police Department, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Authorities initially had no suspects and asked the public for information, offering a reward for tips. In the weeks after the shooting, 20-year-old Coutez D'Henry Damper was arrested and charged with murder, and brothers Michael Ross Jr., 22, and Devon Ross, 21, were taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Vicksburg and also charged with murder. Investigators say the probe is ongoing and more arrests may follow.
Did anyone at the Fayette Fest notice something unusual that night or have information that could help complete the timeline of what happened?
