A shooting at the Frank Berry Courts Housing Complex in Meridian, Mississippi, left 27-year-old Marquez Green dead after an exchange of gunfire on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. The incident at 917 42nd Avenue involved Green and another man, Malcom Johnson; both were struck and taken to a local hospital. Johnson’s injuries were not life-threatening, while Green was admitted in critical condition and died two days later, Thursday, May 22, 2025.

After Green’s death, the Meridian Police Department continued the investigation. Malcom Johnson was released from the hospital on Friday, May 23, 2025, and taken into custody; he has been charged with murder and is being held on a $1 million bond at the Clarke County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
