A dispute between acquaintances in Yonkers turned deadly in the early morning hours of Friday, July 11, 2025. Around 2:30 a.m. near Ludlow Street and Riverdale Avenue, 35-year-old Francisco Vallejo was found with a single gunshot wound to the head. First responders transported him to a local hospital, where he died shortly after arrival.
Yonkers detectives from the Major Case Squad, Digital Forensics Unit, and Crime Scene Unit investigated. Their preliminary findings indicate Vallejo and the suspect knew each other and had been involved in a disagreement that escalated. The suspect allegedly fired one shot and fled the scene before being tracked to an apartment near Radford Street and Riverdale Avenue.
Several hours after the shooting, 41-year-old Yonkers resident Fidencio Abreu was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, arraigned in Westchester County Court and remanded without bail. Anyone with information about Vallejo or the incident is asked to come forward.
