Calvin Akeem Ellis, 36, known locally as Chucky, was shot at a home on Smith Street in Nashville, North Carolina, on August 31, 2025 and died soon after at a hospital. Officers from the Nashville Police Department were called to the scene about 2:45 p.m., where they found Ellis with multiple gunshot wounds; he could not be saved.
Investigators from multiple regional agencies arrested four people in the days that followed. Nineteen-year-old Kever Thomas Lee was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Sixty-six-year-old Otha Chavis Jr. was charged with accessory after the fact and conspiracy to commit murder. Fifty-year-old Patrick Richardson was charged with felony obstruction of justice; police said he had been on parole for a rape-related offense and was captured after removing his ankle monitor. A fourth person under 18 was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and is not named publicly.
Family and friends held a farewell service at Union Hill Baptist Church in mid-September and planned a burial at Stoney Creek Cemetery. Did anyone in the area know Calvin or have information about what happened that afternoon?
