Emilia Vinokur, 79, of Loveland, Ohio, was shot while riding in a moving car and died after being taken to Deerfield Township Fire Station 57 on West U.S. 22 on September 7, 2025. Deputies and first responders were dispatched around 3:15–3:20 p.m. after a report of a person with a gunshot wound; fire personnel attempted to revive her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities quickly detained a 77-year-old man, Gerald Olin Finley, who lived with Vinokur in an apartment nearby. He was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with murder and felonious assault; bond was set at $200,000 cash and he pleaded not guilty at arraignment. Prosecutors told the court they believe Finley shot Vinokur because she was experiencing health problems and pain, and a first responder reported a man at the fire station admitted he had shot his wife. Investigators said the shooting occurred inside the vehicle the couple had been traveling in, and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
Funeral arrangements were handled through a Cincinnati-area funeral home. If anyone knew Emilia Vinokur or has information about the events leading to September 7, please share what you know.
