Devontae Marquez Hanson, 25, was fatally shot just after midnight on July 12, 2025, near Martin Luther King Street and North Wilson Avenue in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was found by Okmulgee Police and Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police and died after being taken to a local hospital. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was called to lead the homicide investigation.
Born in Okmulgee on June 27, 2000, Hanson was a 2018 graduate of Beggs High School. He enjoyed training and riding horses and shared that interest with his son, Ezekiel; he also had a daughter, Kamalia. He had recently earned his CDL license and was active in Lone Tree Missionary Church, where he served as a junior deacon and sang in the choir.
Within days, authorities announced multiple arrests. On July 21, 35-year-old Stevie Perry Jr. and 37-year-old Shamarcus Powdrill were charged with second-degree murder; Perry was arrested in Okmulgee and Powdrill in Oakland, California. Later arrests include 28-year-old Kadijha Raimone Sykes in McKinney, Texas, and 33-year-old Ashlee Kay Vann in Tulsa, each charged as an accessory to second-degree murder. Officials have not released a motive or a detailed account of the shooting.
Did anyone in Okmulgee know Devontae or see anything that night that could help investigators?
