Henry Travers Jr. was 73 when he was shot and killed while working the night shift as the clerk at the Fireside Motel on Route 28 in Salem on the night of August 30, 1980. The motel is now the site of a Home Depot. His death was ruled a homicide, but investigators never publicly identified a suspect and no arrests were made.

The case went cold and remains listed as an unsolved homicide by the New Hampshire Department of Justice. The motive and the identity of the person who shot Travers have not been disclosed, leaving his family and the community without answers.

If anyone has information about that night or remembers activity around the motel, contact local law enforcement with what can help the investigation.
