A male juvenile named Jakai Robinson was shot near the pumps at a gas station on the 6100 block of Knightdale Boulevard near Hodge Road in Knightdale, North Carolina on the night of July 9, 2025. Wake County deputies arrived about 9:40–9:45 p.m.; Robinson was taken to a hospital and died the next day. Early reports withheld his name, but subsequent records and memorial listings identify him as the victim and place the fatal attack at that intersection.
A warrant and later public filings describe a planned transaction that evening involving half an ounce of marijuana and a buyer referred to as J.R. That paperwork does not resolve whether J.R. was the same person as the victim, but frames the encounter as a drug meeting that escalated into violence. By July 22, 2025, two men were in custody: 29-year-old Tra'von McArthur, charged with murder and related drug counts, and 32-year-old Devonte Gary, charged with conspiring to sell and deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance. Authorities said the investigation remained active as the suspects made initial court appearances.
If anyone has information about Jakai Robinson, the events at the Knightdale gas station on July 9, or the transaction described, please share what is known with investigators.
