A 56-year-old man, Loren Mathew Morones, was found dead at his home on Highway 24 in Townville, South Carolina, on the morning of September 16, 2025. His employer discovered him near a camper on the property; responders found multiple gunshot wounds. The Anderson County Coroner’s Office ruled the death a homicide and ordered an autopsy.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a scene investigation with evidence markers in the yard. A suspect was identified and taken into custody the next day: 35-year-old Justin Dwain Harris, described as an acquaintance of Morones. Harris was found driving a Chevrolet pickup reported stolen from Oconee County. A deputy’s attempted traffic stop led to a pursuit that ended when the truck crashed into a ditch on Fields Avenue; a discarded firearm was recovered along the chase route.

Harris was booked into the Anderson County Detention Center and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, along with receiving stolen goods, failure to stop for blue lights, and a grand larceny count from Oconee County. The investigation is relying on the recovered weapon, witness statements, and the autopsy. If anyone knew Loren Morones or has information about that morning, please share what can help the investigation.
