James Jenkins, 20, was fatally shot at the Cross Creek Apartments on Ambrose Run in Beaufort, South Carolina, in the early morning hours of a September day. Police were called just before 2:30 a.m. for reports of shots fired and found Jenkins in a third-floor apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was given emergency aid, transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, and pronounced dead at 4:25 a.m.
Investigators recovered shell casings and blood in the building’s stairway. A property manager reported seeing a vehicle, possibly a silver Infiniti, leave the area shortly after the shots, but leasing-office security footage did not clearly identify a suspect vehicle. The Beaufort Police Department, assisted by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, opened an active investigation and asked the public for information. No suspects have been publicly named and no arrests announced as of late 2025.
Did anyone in the Beaufort or St. Helena Island area see a silver Infiniti or other suspicious activity near Cross Creek Apartments that night?
