Shawn D. Zimmerman Jr., 19, was found just after 12:30 a.m. on June 10, 2025, having been shot multiple times while sitting in a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 1000 block of Terrell Drive in High Point, North Carolina. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene; detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit opened an investigation and described this as the city’s first criminal homicide of 2025.
A second occupant, 23-year-old Tykese Warren of Greensboro, was also shot and taken to a hospital in critical condition; police later announced Warren died from his injuries on June 15, 2025. Police said both men were struck multiple times while seated inside the parked car. Investigators appealed for tips through Crime Stoppers and repeatedly stated no one had been taken into custody and they had not identified a suspect or suspects.
Funeral and memorial notices remembered Zimmerman, known as Woodie, and community tributes invited people to honor his life. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
