A dispute at a nightclub on West Birnie Street in Gaffney, South Carolina, ended in the death of 46-year-old Joshua Euron Wood in the early hours of Sunday, July 13, 2025. An argument between Wood and another man escalated to gunfire; Wood suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken by private vehicle to Cherokee Medical Center around 1:20 a.m., then transferred by ambulance to Spartanburg Medical Center. He died during surgery at 4:13 a.m.

Gaffney police identified a suspect and obtained arrest warrants for 35-year-old Anthony Lee Jefferies Jr., charging him with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Jefferies was arrested and is being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center.
