Corey Adams, 18, was killed by gunfire after a large pool after-party in Cordova, Tennessee, on the night of July 19, 2025. Deputies were called to Fern Glade Cove just after 10 p.m.; minutes later Adams was found inside a vehicle at Forest Hill-Irene and Walnut Grove with a gunshot wound. Lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other adult men were taken to hospitals by private cars with non-life-threatening injuries.

Evidence technicians recovered dozens of shell casings at the house on Fern Glade Cove, a sign that multiple weapons were likely fired as the gathering dissolved into chaos. Adams had enrolled at the University of Mississippi in January after starring at New Orleans’ Edna Karr High School and was a freshman defensive lineman preparing for his first SEC season; statements from the university, coaches, and teammates described a promising career cut short.

Detectives opened a homicide investigation and asked anyone who attended the party, has surveillance footage, or has tips to contact investigators. As of the latest reports, no arrests had been announced and no suspects publicly identified.
