ZyDerec Massey was 17 when he was shot and killed while driving on Finley Road in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on June 27, 2025. Working as a DoorDash driver that evening, Massey was struck by a stray bullet that pierced his windshield and hit him in the neck during a brawl between groups from York and Chester counties. His car left the road after being hit and stopped against a bush. First responders arrived around 10 p.m.; Massey was taken to Piedmont Medical Center and died shortly after arrival.

Detectives reviewed video evidence and witness statements and identified a primary suspect. Authorities arrested 21-year-old Zykemian Havar Williams on charges of murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime; officers also reported finding marijuana and cash in his bedroom, resulting in an added possession with intent to distribute charge. Williams was denied bail and held in the York County jail awaiting trial. Three other adults were arrested and charged as accessories for allegedly attempting to help Williams conceal evidence. Two 18-year-olds, Jazmin Deann Unique Foster and Jaia Jahne Miller, were accused of driving Williams from the scene and storing the weapon used in the shooting.

Family members described Massey as a quiet soul with a gentle spirit and a radiant smile. Does anyone have information about Massey’s movements that night or footage from Finley Road around 10 p.m. on June 27?
