Fernander Leon Tic Barr, 59, a Lake City businessman remembered for his generosity and smile, was killed during a violent domestic-related incident on the night of June 19, 2025. Officers responding to a Simmons Street residence found a chaotic scene in the front yard: three bleeding victims. Barr suffered a severe neck laceration and, according to autopsy findings, a small-caliber gunshot wound under his chin. He was taken to a local hospital and later died of his injuries.
Two other adults were wounded; one man had three gunshot wounds, two in the back and one in the left hand, and a woman had a facial laceration and other possible injuries. All three were conscious when officers arrived and were transported for treatment. Investigators recovered an edged weapon and a handgun at the scene and noted signs of forced entry. A third adult and a minor child were inside the home during the altercation but were unharmed and not directly involved.
No arrests or criminal charges have been announced. The two surviving victims have been interviewed and the investigation is with the 12th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office for review. Does anyone in Lake City have information about the Simmons Street residence or sightings from the night of June 19 that could help investigators?
