On the early morning of Sunday, July 27, 2025, officers responding to a noise complaint on the 100 block of Cooper Street in Danville, Virginia, found 23-year-old Danville resident Ketasha Fuller suffering from a gunshot wound after a single shot rang out as officers were leaving. Fuller was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Video footage from the scene reportedly shows a male arguing with Fuller, then producing a handgun and firing one shot. The Danville Police Department identified 28-year-old Jaiquawn Amos Powell as the primary suspect and charged him with second-degree murder.
