Roy Villarreal, 20, was shot in the early morning hours of August 16, 2025, along the 100 block of West Clark Boulevard in the El Trompe neighborhood of Laredo, Texas. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Local reports and memorial listings linked the time and place of the shooting to the loss reported by his family and community.

By the afternoon of August 17, detectives had named a suspect and announced a murder warrant for 19-year-old Victor Manuel Valadez, alleging Valadez shot Villarreal at about 1 a.m. on West Clark. Police appealed for tips on the suspect’s whereabouts and said calls would remain anonymous. Officials described the two men as close and said the incident might have been accidental or the result of a conversation that went wrong; investigators had not confirmed a motive.

This was the city’s seventh homicide in 2025. If anyone has information about what happened that night or the suspect’s whereabouts, please share tips with the Laredo Police Department.
