Jessica Mendez, 38, a Hispanic/Latina woman from Weslaco, Texas, was found dead inside her home in the early morning hours of July 17, 2025. Police responded to the 600 block of West 11th Street after a man arrived at the Alamo Police Department shortly after 2:30 a.m. and told officers he had killed a woman in Weslaco. Investigators reported the victim died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities identified the man who surrendered as 39-year-old Rigoberto Garza, described as the victim’s boyfriend and common-law partner; police say he first confessed to family and then turned himself in. Officers noted a child was present during the domestic dispute but was not physically harmed and was released to relatives. By July 21, 2025, Garza had been charged with murder and held with bond set at $250,000.
If anyone knew Jessica, her household, or was in the area of West 11th Street on the night of July 16–17, 2025, please share what you know with investigators.
