Gunfire rang out in the Rancho Alegre neighborhood on the west side of Alice shortly after 11 p.m. on June 2, 2025. Deputies found 20-year-old Izaiah Salinas suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside a home in the 1800 block of Carmen Street; he was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Within days investigators identified and arrested multiple suspects. On June 4 authorities arrested 18-year-old Diego Kael Diaz-Martinez and 22-year-old Gabriel Rodriguez, charging both with murder and engaging in organized criminal activity and setting bond at $1,800,000 each. Two days later, on June 6, 22-year-old Makayla Perez was arrested and charged with murder and engaging in criminal activity. Officials described the killing as a coordinated act and said the investigation was ongoing as evidence was processed.
