Jamarion Brown, 23, was fatally shot just after midnight on May 24, 2025, during a crowded late-night pool party near Pittsburg in Camp County, Texas. The gathering was described as large when multiple gunshots rang out; deputies and first responders found Brown gravely wounded with a gunshot to the head. He was taken to a nearby hospital, then airlifted to a Tyler facility, where he died of his injuries.

Two other people at the party were also shot, suffering leg and hip wounds that were reported as non-life-threatening. Brown was a Mount Pleasant native and a junior on the basketball team at Henderson State University; memorials and funeral services in Mount Pleasant followed his death. Investigators identified a suspect. Onterrian Jamour Newton, 17 and from Mount Pleasant, was arrested and charged with murder, and authorities said additional charges related to the other wounded victims were pending as the case moved forward.
