On the evening of October 18, 2025, an argument inside an apartment at the College Villa Apartments on Ladnier Road in Gautier, Mississippi, escalated into gunfire. Eighteen-year-old Arreyon Lett, a Black senior at Gautier High School who was an honors student set to graduate in December, was struck and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. He is remembered by teachers and peers for his magnetic personality, radiant smile, respectful nature and leadership among fellow students.

Three others were also wounded: a 15-year-old from Gautier, an 18-year-old from Ocean Springs, and a 31-year-old woman who was struck by a stray bullet that pierced the wall of a neighboring apartment. Investigators described the shooting as an isolated event.

The Gautier Police Department identified and arrested three teenage suspects in the days after the shooting: 18-year-old Camerson Duckworth of Gulf Park Estates, 16-year-old Micah Price of Gautier, and 15-year-old Reginald Hall III of Moss Point. All three were charged with first-degree murder and were to be charged as adults; police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges or arrests are possible.
