Three people were killed in an early-morning shooting in the Cedar Creek Cove subdivision in Mabank, Texas, on October 17, 2025. Victims identified by authorities and memorial listings were 57-year-old Ronny Hammonds, Kimberly Simpson, and Connie Patrick; two other people were wounded when the shootings began around 2:30 a.m.

Investigators named 29-year-old Christopher Kyle Reid Jr. of Hubbard as the suspect. After the shootings, Reid reportedly fled in a maroon Dodge Caravan, drove to Ennis and crashed through the entrance of a Buc-ee’s, where he shot himself and was taken to hospital in critical condition. A pedestrian hit in the crash suffered non–life-threatening injuries. News reports named the wounded survivors as 70-year-old Henry Hopgood, listed in critical condition, and 24-year-old Colton Reid.

Officials had not publicly detailed the relationships among the suspect and the victims and said they were coordinating with state and local partners to reconstruct the sequence of events. The community announced a celebration of life for Hammonds, Simpson and Patrick at the First Baptist Church in Hubbard. Did anyone in the area witness activity in Cedar Creek Cove around 2:30 a.m. on October 17, 2025, or have information that could clarify what happened?
