Derrien Durell Scott, 17, was killed in a shooting in the Ridgewood Apartment Complex parking lot off Ventress Drive in Maringouin, Louisiana, shortly before 5:30 p.m. on October 16, 2025. First responders found Scott and another young man with multiple gunshot wounds; Scott was pronounced dead at the scene and the 19-year-old victim survived after being airlifted to a hospital.

The Maringouin Police Department and the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated and identified two suspects from Baton Rouge. Within days authorities arrested 19-year-old Derion Rogers and 17-year-old DaQuan Causey and booked them into the Iberville Parish Jail. A search of one suspect’s home recovered several firearms. Both face charges that include second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and armed robbery.

Anyone who was in the Ridgewood Apartments area around 5:30 p.m. on October 16, 2025, or who has information about the shooting is asked to come forward.
