Carltin Bayong, a 14-year-old student at Eleanor Roosevelt High School and originally from Cameroon, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Greenbelt, Maryland, on the afternoon of Sunday, October 5, 2025. The shooting happened about 1:45 p.m. near Breezewood Court and Cherrywood Terrace. Bayong had been living in the United States under the care of a guardian while his parents remained abroad.

Officers arriving at the scene found Bayong with a gunshot wound; he was transported to a nearby hospital and did not survive. Police describe the incident as a targeted attack. Witnesses saw a silver Infiniti with dark tinted windows and no front license plate racing through the area; multiple occupants in the vehicle reportedly fired several shots at a group of youths before fleeing.

The Greenbelt Police Department continues to investigate and has not identified or arrested any suspects. Anyone who saw the silver Infiniti or has information about what happened is asked to come forward.
