Carlos Dewayne Hill, 48, was shot to death in Marshall, Texas, on the night of Sunday, October 26, 2025. Officers were dispatched about 8:56 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 1900 block of Bean Street; when they arrived they found Hill dead at the scene and immediately opened a homicide investigation.

Neighbors reported a burst of shots and saw a figure running into the dark. Early information led investigators to believe the shooter fled on foot before officers arrived. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood late into the night and the following day, recovering shell casings, knocking on doors and sealing off Bean Street with crime scene tape. By Monday no arrests had been announced and no suspect description was released.

Family members publicly asked for justice and urged anyone with information to come forward. Detectives said leads were being pursued and that community tips could help identify the shooter.
