Kory Anding, 29, was fatally shot inside an apartment on Berkeley Street in Alexandria on October 25, 2025. Police responded to reports of shots fired at about 10:56 p.m.; officers found Anding inside the residence with a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Medical Examiner was asked to determine the official cause and manner of death.

A 26-year-old man identified as Damontie James of Alexandria remained at the apartment and was taken into custody. Authorities say the shooting arose from a domestic dispute involving James’s sister. James was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Anding’s family has set up a GoFundMe to cover funeral costs and support his two daughters.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the investigating agency. Did anyone in the community see or hear anything that night?
