A large Halloween party on a rural dirt road outside Maxton on Dixon Drive ended in gunfire in the early hours of October 25, 2025. Deputies were first dispatched about 1:15 a.m. for a loud-music complaint, and 911 calls about shots fired began before they arrived. The party drew an estimated 300 people; as shooting began more than 150 fled into the darkness, leaving abandoned vehicles and discarded costumes and complicating the crime scene.

Two people were killed at the scene: 16-year-old Nehemiah Locklear and 49-year-old Jessie Locklear Jr., both later said to be from Lumberton. Thirteen people in all were struck by bullets; eleven were injured, with ages ranging from 17 to 43. Authorities say multiple shooters used multiple weapons after a confrontation between two groups. The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division is leading the investigation with state Alcohol Law Enforcement and federal ATF assistance, and the FBI has been consulted. Investigators have identified multiple persons of interest and are asking attendees to come forward with photos and names; no arrests have been announced.

If anyone attended the gathering at 298 Dixon Drive or has photos, video, or names that could help investigators, please share what is known.
